Public Parks in Thorp

The City of Thorp has 6 named parks, along with several unnamed greenspaces. In all, Thorp's 61.35 acres of park and green space yields more than 39 acres per 1000 people--well above the 12.5 acre standard.

Thorp takes great pride in its parks. Please place all litter in the receptacles. Dogs on leashes are welcome in Thorp's parks, so long as owners clean up after their pets. Park shelters can be reserved for a fee of $65 by calling Thorp City Hall at (715) 669-5371.


Veteran's Park

Veterans Park

.25 acre Veteran's Park is located on S. Washington Street on the banks of McGrogan Creek. The park features an army tank and hosts Memorial Day activities each year.


Northside Park

Northside Park

11.1 acre Northside Park is located at the northern city limits on STH 73. The park features a fenced and lighted baseball field with concession stand and dugouts. It also features multiple pavilions, flush toilets, 4 campsites, and hosts several community events including Dairy Days and the Demolition Derby.

Garrison Park

.10 acre Garrison Park is located on N. Washington Street, nestled on Thorp's quaint and active main street. It offers a spot to sit and relax, eat lunch, or meet friends. It features shade trees, a gazebo, picnic tables, and benches.

Keating Park

1.8 acre Keating Park is located in the northeast part of the city on N. Boardman St. It features playground equipment, a lighted basketball court, picnic tables, benches, and a drinking fountain.

Tucker James Memorial

2 acre Tucker James Memorial Dog Park is located east of town at W9436 County Hwy X. The park features a large fenced-in area for off-the-leash activities. Donate to the beautification of Tucker James Memorial Park at the Thorpedo, D&J Hardware, Marieke Gouda, City Hall, and Aroma.

Yellowstone Trail Park

Yellowstone Park

5.5 acre Yellowstone Trail Park, formerly known as City Park, is located in central Thorp along the Yellowstone Trail (CTH X or E. Stanley St.). It features playground equipment, a windmill, fenced and lighted tennis courts, a walking/bike trail, an ice skating rink with warming house and pavilion, 3 sand volleyball courts, horseshoe pits, a large pavilion, and flush toilets.

Goggle Eye Trap Club

This 20 acre city-owned facility is just outside the northwest corner of the city limits on Pine Rd. The Goggle Eye Trap Club has a long-term lease and operates the facility. It is open to the public, and features a clubhouse, 3 trap houses, shooting stations, and lights for night time shooting.

Conway Park

12 acre Conway Park is located in the southwest corner of the city on S. Adams St. About half of the park is wooded and features a trail for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, or cross-country skiing. The park also features playground equipment, a basketball court, and a small picnic shelter.
